Merger of Newmarket Road Surgery with St Stephen’s Gate Medical Practice

What does it mean for me?

When We Are Closed

If you need a doctor urgently when the surgery is closed please telephone NHS 111.  If you dial 01603 621006 you will hear an automated message asking you to re-dial NHS 111 or 999 in a genuine emergency.  NHS 111 provide urgent medical care between 6.30 pm and 8.00 am Monday to Friday and 6.30 pm Friday night to 8.00 am Monday morning and on public and bank holidays.  You will be assessed, given advice and directed straightaway to the local service that can help you best.  If you call NHS 111 direct from any landline or mobile the call will be free.

It is also worth remembering that your usual pharmacy will often be able to dispense an emergency supply of your usual medication without a prescription at the weekend if you should run out.

Please remember to consider calling  NHS 111 rather than attending A&E where possible.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
