What does it mean for me?

ANTENATAL CLINIC (Midwife) These clinics are held every Tuesday afternoon from 2pm. We enjoy providing comprehensive maternity care, and recommend that you see your doctor as soon as you think you are pregnant. The district nurse, health visitor and midwife are community based but they liaise closely with the doctors at regular meetings
PRIVATE MEDICALS & INSURANCE REPORTS Some medical examinations and services (e.g. for employment, sporting activities or insurance purposes) are not covered by the NHS. You will need a special appointment for these. The receptionist will advise you of the fee which is recommended by the British Medical Association.
CERVICAL SMEARS NHS England runs a recall system for cervical smears which are generally carried out by our nurses. You will be sent for automatically when your test is due, but if you have any worrying symptoms please see the doctor or nurse at any time.
FOREIGN TRAVEL IMMUNISATIONS (Nurse)
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make a telephone appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
It is important to make this initial telephone appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Most travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because travel vaccination is not included in the services provided by the NHS and therefore is a chargeable service.
Useful travel information relating to your health can be found at the following website:
DIABETES/ASTHMA Recall systems are run for our non-insulin diabetes and asthmatic patients. You will be invited to attend, but please contact the doctor or nurse at any time if you have any worrying symptoms.

Test results arrive electronically into the practice each day. Abnormal results will usually be communicated to you by the doctor or the practice staff. Normal results may not be reported to you but will always be available over the telephone or at reception.
The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
